Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder is stiffness and pain in the shoulder restricting movement and in some cases preventing movement altogether. It affects woman more than men and athletes.
The symptoms of frozen shoulder happen in 3 stages in the older person it can take 2-3 years for the stages to occur, in younger people it can take as little as 10-12 weeks.
Stage 1 - The shoulder will ache, start to feel stiff and become painful especially if you lie on the shoulder affected.
Stage 2 - The shoulder will become increasingly limited to movement, but the pain will have eased.
Stage 3 - You will gradually regain movement of your shoulder and the pain with have faded.
There is no main cause of Frozen Shoulder and is not fully understood why it happens.
These are some factors which may cause it to happen:
Shoulder Injury - fracture or surgery, keeping your arm in one place while recovering may cause it to tighten up.
Hormonal Imbalances - women going through the menopause
Diabetes
